PURIM IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

Purim, a joyous Jewish festival commemorating the survival of the Jews who, in the 5th century BCE, were marked for death by their Persian rulers. The story is related in the biblical Book of Esther.

Purim is a celebration of triumph over adversity. and most people celebrate by hearing the story and leanring from it, then have a good festive meal and finish the day by attending a carnival or festival.  This carnival is always celebrated by people dressing up in various types of costumes and parading through the town or community.  Some groups put on skits that they the Purim story and others use the occasion as an excuse to perform any theme that takes their fancy.

Purim this year will be no different.  Each community of the Tamar Regional Council celebrates in their own special way.  By being part of a community is especially fun because in general you know everybody and all the residents come together to volunteer to prepare or take part in the festival by performing or just dressing up to be part of the celebrations.

Happy dressing up to everybody. :)
